This part of the User Manual introduces the user to the Ecora Auditor Professional interface, and provides a detailed description and in depth analysis of all UI buttons, tabs and features. The section organization follows the organization of Ecora Auditor Professional User Interface, then the Tab structure, and finally the main Buttons flow.
Menu Bar
File
- New Folder - creates a new directory in which data and reports can be saved.
- Delete - permanently removes the selected report, data set, or folder.
- Rename - changed the name of the selected folder.
- Settings - accesses a dialog box in which to set user properties that appear in reports, preferences for storage and security, and output formats of reports.
- Exit - closes the application.
Edit
- Configuration Report Definitions - accesses a dialog box in which to modify the available predefined Configuration reports.
- Fact-Finding Report Definitions - accesses a dialog box in which to modify the available predefined Fact-Finding reports.
- Activity Log Definitions - accesses a dialog box in which to modify existing Activity log reports .
- System Groups - accesses a dialog box in which you can create/delete/modify system groups.
- Attribute Groups - accesses a dialog box in which you can create/delete/modify attribute groups.
- Alerts and Triggers - accesses a dialog box in which to create or modify checks notifications by the software when user-defined conditions are met.
Reports
- Configuration Report - initiates the process of generating a Configuration Report using existing data.
- Fact-Finding Report - initiates the process of generating a Configuration Report using existing data.
- Change Report - initiates the process of generating a Change Report, using existing data, to detect any modification to the infrastructure.
- Baseline Comparison Report - initiates the process of generating a Baseline Comparison Report, using data, to check compliance across multiple systems.
- Activity Log Report - initiates the process of generating an Activity Log Report to check for failed/successful Data Collections.
Tools
- Extracting from Archive - accesses a dialog box in which to specify archived data to restore to the active database.
- Data Collection Only - initiates the process of gathering configuration settings from selected systems.
- Write to Configuration Database - records the data from the selected data set to the relational configuration database.
- Manage Modules - accesses a dialog box in which to review and control licensed modules, software updates, and the active module in the user interface.
- System Management - (Windows Module ONLY) accesses a dialog box in which to view and manage discovered systems by domain, IP, last collection, etc.
- Agents management - Agent Management on remote systems
- Updates - accesses the Ecora website page to display a list of available downloads/updates for Ecora software.
- Website - accesses the Ecora or Ecora partner website, typically for updates.
External Data Integration - accesses a dialog box for establishing additional attributes to be collected.

- Log Filter - accesses a dialog box for limiting the event codes written to the Ecora log files and for viewing existing logs sorted by Category/Keyword/Process ID/Thread ID/time frame.
View
- Refresh - updates the view of directories and reports in the main window.
- View Log - opens a secondary window displaying the messages recorded by Ecora software.
Activation
- Activation - accesses a dialog box in which the Ecora Auditor Pro Login settings can be modified and licenses can be activated.
- Manual Activation - accesses a dialog box in which you can manually insert the License in case your machine is not connected to the internet and you are obtaining the License code manually.
- License Agreement - opens a window where you can read the Ecora License Agreement.
Help
- Help Topics - accesses the online user manual pages.
- What's This? - accesses a pop-up description of the next GUI element clicked.
- About - accesses a dialog box that presents the version of the software (with an additional tab that shows information about your License).
Tabs
- Reports - displays the directory structure, data, and reports within the default storage directory (set in the Settings dialog box).
- Scheduled Tasks - displays all jobs associated with Auditor scheduled collections, reports, dependencies between tasks, and job status.
- Data - displays the CSV files (if you have enabled this output format in the Settings dialog box) by date.
- Computers, Devices,Servers,Hostnames etc. dependent on the active module - displays the reports organized by the network structure and the systems for which you are licensed, collect data, and create reports.
General Navigation
The right window pane displays the content and properties of whatever is currently selected and active in the left pane.
The right window pane allows specific function through a right mouse click. Depending on the selected tab and item, right-clicking provides relevant options such as Open, Rename, Delete, or Write to Configuration Database.
