Scanning
Performing a System Scan
1. Choose File>New Scan.
2. Select either Sure-Scan or Rapid-Scan from the Select Scan Type window pane.
- Note: You can type in a Scan Description in order to provide additional custom information about the on-going system scan.
3. Click Next.
4. In the System Selection window the user can specify which systems are to be scanned. Simply click on the desired System or System Group and then click Select'.
5. In the Select Products and Patches window the user can opt for a selective scan based on only some products or patches from products. In order to do this check the Use selective scan box and browse the Products window pane for the desired software. Once this is checked the user can select particular patches for the specified product in the right window pane, Patches. The desired choices are made by clicking on the check-boxes.
6. Click Finish.
7. Wait for the Scanning process to complete.
8. Consult the scanning results.
Loading a System Scan
1. Choose File>Open Scan.
2. In the Analysis Results window click on the scan you wish to load.
3. Click Load.
4. Click Close.
5. Click on the loaded scan in the Hosts window pane in order to view it's information.
Pushing
Performing a Patch Push
1. Open a previously performed scan or perform a New Scan.
2. Browse to the desired patch by using the left and right window panes.
3. When the desired patch is found Check the Push box.
- Note: You may select multiple patches by checking their appropriate boxes.
- Note: You may select all missing patches for a machine by selecting the system in the Hosts window pane, right-clicking it and then making your selection.
4. Chose Tools>Push Patches.
5. If the patch is not present in the Patch Repository a patch download info window will appear.
6. Select the patches to be downloaded and press the Download button.
7. The Patch Repository Manager window will appear. Select the patches to be downloaded and either schedule their download by clicking on the Schedule button or download them immediately by clicking the Download Now button.
8. The Patch Manager Download window will appear.
9. Wait for the download to be complete.
10. The Push options window will appear. Here you can view the patches to be pushed and their target machines in the Target window pane. In the Set Execution pane the user can chose to:
- Execute Immediately - will transfer the patch and install it immediately
- Schedule Execution - will transfer and install at specified date and time
- Transfer Only - will only transfer the patch to the target machine
- Note: You may apply the settings for all currently selected patches by checking the Apply settings to all machines box. You can also schedule a system(s) automatic rescan after the patching process has been completed by checking the Enable rescan scheduling box and setting the date and service credentials.
11. Click Push.
12. The Job Settings window will appear. The available options are:
- Override QChain - Select this option to use Microsoft QChain Technology to install patches back-to-back before reboot.
- Override Reboot - Select this option to restart the target system after patch installation or rollback.
- Override Patch Repository - Enter the path to the central patch repository system.
- Override Application State - Select this option to close applications (with unsaved changes) before restarting. If this option is not checked, the user is prompted to close the applications.
- Note: Uncheck the Prompt for job settings every time if you wish to set default job settings.
13. Click on System Management.
The window has two panes:
- Manage Systems - where systems ca be grouped for easier multiple selections
- Systems - where each individual system is listed
14. Select the system you wish to push patches to and then click on Properties.
15. In the System Settings tab enter the correct credentials (User name and Password) for accessing the target system.
16. Click OK.
17. The pushing process will commence.
18. Wait for the push process to be complete.
