System Discovery

1. Open Ecora Patch Manager.

2. Go to Tools>Systems Grouping (or click on Systems).

3. In the Systems Management window click on Discover.

4. There are three methods of discovering systems:

  • by Active Directory - Select Active Directory in the Discover Options window Pane.
4.1 Click Next.
4.2 Wait for the domain information to be collected and then select desired domain and click Next.
4.3 Select the desired systems.
4.4 Click Finish.
  • by NetBIOS - Select NetBIOS in the Discover Options window Pane.
4.1 Click Next.
4.2 Wait for the domain information to be collected and then select desired domain and click Next.
4.3 Select the desired systems.
4.4 Click Finish.
  • Specify Hosts - By individually specifying each systems using one of the available methods. Firstly, select Specify Hosts in the Discover Options window Pane.
  • Net Browsing - Specify the Domain and Computer name and then click on Add. After the system has been discovered Select it and then click Finish.
  • FQDN - Specify the fully qualified domain name by following the example format provided and then click on Add.
After the system has been discovered Select it and then click Finish.
  • IP - Specify the IP Address and the credentials for the system and then click on Add.

  • IP Ranges - Specify the IP Address ranges and the credentials for the systems and then click on Add. After the systems have been discovered Select them and then click Finish.
Note: You can specify the Discovery Time limit in the lower windows pane. After the number of minutes specified has expired, the discovery process will stop, displaying the results achieved within the time limit.
  • Load from file - The user can specify a list of systems from a file. In order to do this click the Load from file button and then specify the desired file.
The file must contain a list of specified systems, one on each line, using the format: Domain System.
After the systems have been discovered Select them and then click Finish.

System Management

1. Open Ecora Patch Manager.

2. Go to Tools>Systems Grouping (or click on Systems).

System Grouping

1. In the Systems Management windows, click New.

2. Enter the desired Group name and Group description.

3. Click OK.

4. From the Systems window pane, select the desired systems and and then click on Add to Group.

5. Select the desired group from the drop-down menu and click OK.

6. Select the newly defined group in order to view the systems it has assigned.

Note: In order to remove systems from a group, simply select the desired group and then the systems to be removed and click on Remove from Group.

System Properties

In the Systems Management windows select the desired system and click Properties.

  • System Settings Tab - Here the user can specify the admin (local or domain) credentials for the system, credentials used when performing Patch Manager operations. Also, the user can specify the UNC path to the administrative share for the system.
  • Non-Agent Remediation Settings Tab - Here the user can specify various preferences when pushing patches.
Note: The optimal values depend on the environment where Patch Manager is running. Please contact Ecora Technical Support Center for particular recommendations.
  • MSI Path Settings Tab - Here the UNC path to the network share where the .msi file is located must be specified.
Note: For example, this is required when patching Microsoft Office suites.
