Auditor Help: Discovering Devices on the Network
- Run the software.
- Follow the instructions for Windows report generation.
- Click the Discover button.
- Select one of the following network discovery options (to find systems in your environment):
- Active Directory - utilizes Active Directory tree to discover systems
- NetBIOS - utilizes NetBIOS protocol to discover systems
- Specify Hosts - allows you to manually enter, import, or specify systems in the environment

- You selected Active Directory.
- Click the Next > button.

- Use the plus signs to expand the domains.
- Select the domains and/or containers in the tree by double-clicking or using the Select button.
- Click the Next > button.

- Select systems you wish to scan (double-click or use the Select button).
- To specify access credentials for a selected system, click the Set Props... button.
- To import systems specified in a comma-separated value files, click the Import CSV... button.

- Click the Finish button.
- Proceed with reporting.
- You selected NetBIOS .
- Click the Next > button.

- Select the domains in which to discover systems (double-click or use the Select button).
- Click the Next > button.

- Select systems you wish to scan (double-click or use the Select button).
- To specify access credentials for a selected system, click the Set Props... button.
- To import systems specified in a comma-separated value files, click the Import CSV... button.

- Click the Finish button.
- Proceed with reporting.
- Since you selected Specify Hosts, you must select a method. Click on any or all of the following tabs:
- Net Browsing - allows you to enter the domain and computer name(s) you wish to use
- FQDN - allows you to enter the fully qualified domain name of any systems you wish to use
- IP - allows you to enter the IP addresses of the systems you with to use or to import a list of IP addresses
- IP Ranges - allows you to enter pair of IP addresses and discover all systems with IP addresses between them
- On the Net Browsing tab, enter a domain and computer name and click Add.
- Repeat for as many systems as you wish to add.

- On the FQDN tab, enter the fully qualified domain name and click Add.
- Repeat for as many systems as you wish to add.

- On the IP tab, enter the IP address of a system.
- Enter the username and password (and confirm the password) and click Add.
- Enter the time limit (in minutes) during which the software will discover systems.

- On the IP Ranges tab, enter a lower limit IP address and an upper limit IP address.
- Enter the username and password (and confirm the password) and click Add.
- Enter the time limit (in minutes) during which the software will discover systems.

- You can choose to Save to File or Load from File and locate the directory for the file (see file format).
- You can choose to Delete a system you've added.
- Click the Next> button.
- Select systems you wish to scan (double-click or use the Select button).
- To specify access credentials for a selected system, click the Set Props... button.
- To import systems specified in a comma-separated value files, click the Import CSV... button.
