Ecora Launches Configuration Auditor Suites
Ecora has introduced suites for its Configuration Auditor software. The suites are designed to provide a configuration reporting and change tracking solution for the whole infrastructure. Suites are available for messaging systems, database systems, network infrastructures, and enterprise systems.

Each Configuration Auditor suite is bundled with the appropriate types and quantity of Ecora software necessary to ensure that all the critical configuration changes that occur within that infrastructure are documented. For example, the messaging systems suite is comprised of Ecora software for Microsoft Exchange or Lotus Domino servers; Windows NT/2000 or Sun Solaris servers; Cisco devices; and Windows workstations. More Security Settings For Windows Servers & Workstations
Ecora's software for Windows Servers and Windows Workstations now reports on additional security settings. A key component of the additional security information is the NTFS permissions on all sub-folders of shared folders. This information is particularly important for reporting the access permissions to user home directories, which are typically created as sub-folders in the shared top-level folders.

The new security settings documented include:

  • Computer name and comment are hidden/not hidden
  • Page file is cleared/not cleared after a shutdown
  • List of shares that allow null session access
  • List of pipes that allow null session access
  • SMB signing enabled/disabled
  • SMB signing required/not required
  • List of users who receive administrative alerts
  • Legal notice text
  • Ctrl+Alt+Delete required/not required to logon (Windows 2000 only)
  • Guest access restricted/not restricted from viewing Event Logs
  • The Server service does/does not broadcasts the presence of this computer to LAN Manager 2.x servers on the network
