Ecora Software Joins The PCI Security Vendor Alliance

Ecora Joins Forces with other Vendors
to Raise Awareness of Payment Card Compliance Standards
and Address Card Processor Compliance Needs

Portsmouth, N.H. – March 13, 2007 – Ecora Software, a leading provider of change and compliance reporting solutions to ensure IT infrastructures are secure, compliant and effective, announced today that it has joined the Payment Card Industry Security Vendor Alliance (PCI SVA). As a member, Ecora will assist other vendors in educating the business community on the requirements and business value of the Payment Card Industry (PCI) Data Security Standard, a global benchmark intended to improve security throughout the entire payment card transaction process.

“PCI DSS is an important standard that directly benefits consumers by mandating the protection of their highly sensitive personal information. It can also be a real competitive advantage for merchants willing to step up and say they have been audited and are in compliance with the standard,” said Andi Mann, Senior Analyst at EMA. “It's great to see vendors who normally compete for sales actually joining forces to provide assistance to companies that need help in compliance and are working to help drive down the number and severity of incidents.”

According to Privacy Rights Clearinghouse, www.privacyrights.org, nationwide more than 30 reported thefts of drivers license numbers, social security numbers, or credit card account information has been obtained by malicious parties resulting in hundreds of thousands of compromised personal information – just in the month of February.

“Ecora Software has seen an increasing number of customers looking to be proactive and solve very complex issues that arise from the PCI Data Security Standard,” said James Sayles, Chief Compliance Advisor at Ecora. “It is clear that these companies are identifying PCI DSS as a basis for their overall Compliance initiatives and taking the steps to ensure their information is secure and fraudulent risks are mitigated.”

To assist companies in their preparations for an audit, Ecora is offering a free PCI Compliance kit for Level 1 through Level 4 merchants and service providers who handle credit card information. Ecora's PCI Compliance Kit contains the following:

  • Free PCI Assessments for Qualified Merchants and Service Providers – Ecora will consult with your organization to share IT best practices around PCI compliance and offer detailed, audit-ready PCI compliance reports for the auditor.
  • Ecora's PCI White Paper and Datasheet – An informative resource for understanding PCI requirements, as well as the new requirements merchants must comply with by January 2007.
  • Access to Ecora's On-Demand, PCI Training Webcasts – An acclaimed on-line series of presentations outlining each of the 12 PCI compliance requirements and how any organizations can simplify audits by automating the generation of reports validating compliance.
