The ideal candidate for the Technical Writer / Documentation Specialist
position will have a proven track record of delivering high quality end-user
documentation for application software in a timely fashion. Working with
Product Management and Software Engineering, the candidate will be responsible
for planning and delivering documentation projects and deliverables to
coincide with product releases. Working with internal and external subject
matter experts, the candidate will develop documentation in a style and format
that is ideally suited for our customer base.
Responsibilities include:
- Outline and write user guides for software products and tools, with a focus on concise language and meeting audience needs.
- Write detailed software installation instructions, including hardware and software requirements and impact analyses.
- Convert user manuals to online help, editing content as needed to meet the documentation model standards.
- Coordinate with product management and software developers to examine and understand new product features and produce user guides and training manuals based on these features.
- Edit and proofread material written by other documentation team members.
Experience required:
- Experience writing end-user software documentation and training manuals.
- Ability to produce concise, clear documentation while meeting deadlines.
- Strong command of the English language in both a written and verbal capacity.
- Ability to analyze audience needs and determine most effective approach to meeting them.
- Must possess a keen attention to detail, the ability to effectively multitask, and excellent time management skills.
- Bachelor's degree (BA/BS) from four-year college or university and 2 to 4 years experience as a technical writer producing end-user documentation in a software development environment, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
