Richard Stone, Director
In 1974, Professor Richard Stone was appointed to the faculty of Columbia University Law School. Currently, he holds the Wilbur Friedman Chair in Tax Law at Columbia. After beginning his legal career in private practice, Stone was appointed in 1969 to the position of Assistant Solicitor General of the United States. Beginning in 1981, he began an active career in venture capital and investment banking for emerging companies. Stone has served on the Board of Directors for several public (Access Pharmaceuticals, Applied Neurosolutions, ESPRO Technologies) and private companies. He graduated Magna Cum Laude from both Harvard College and Harvard Law School.
